Tangled Blues Festival

Yes it's this weekend!!

Camping remains bookable whilst farmhouse rooms and shepherd huts are booked up. So bring a tent or stay nearby. We have day tickets, evening tickets and all weekend tickets. Friday we are keeping it local, with this time three acts.

Tai Chi opens the proceedings at 5.30pm

Jenny Bliss at 7pm

Kevin Brown at 8pm

Pete Lane and the Sailing Stones at 9pm

We are sure you will love these! Music will be in or possibly from the steps of The Piggery.

Saturday we invite you to do yoga and Blues dance in the morning. We will then see seven lots of musicians on the main stage, from midday to 11pm.

Open mic opportunities are in the Piggery: bring your instruments and sign up for 15 minutes to share your music.

Blues duo Kaspar and Lucy will open. On Monday night Kaspar's music was the first track that Cerys Matthews played on her Blues show on BBC Radio 2!

We then have seven-piece Phoenix River Band whose 'Atlanticana' should make a good listen.

Jenny Bliss will be performing again with friends then we've Freddie Hall who is right now travelling from the US to his home in Nice, before heading once more into the air to come to us. He'll be solo on stage and we love his Blues, Motown and the incredible energy he imparts.

Later we've award-winning Daisy Chute ("like a modern day Kate Bush" says Rob Bayly of Somer Valley FM), Jimmy Regal and the Royals, whose recent pre-album single releases are getting a good amount of air play (fabulous harmonica-playing are a feature of their music), and king of Blues guitar Ramon Goose and the Compadres, giving us a Cuban twist to the Blues.

There'll be two opportunites on Saturday and one on Sunday to try your hand at making Japanese "orizome" flags or bunting with artist Miyuki Kasahara. Folding Japanese paper and dipping it into ink can result in great explosions of colour - plenty to decorate the marquee/awning with!

On Friday and Saturday nights bring your instruments (not your drums) to the campfire for a spot of acoustic music -making till whatever time you've energy for.

On Sunday there's yoga, dance, and as we had at Tangled Roots, a sound bath this time with Belle Greenwood. For that, we climb the stairs to the long top room in The Mill.

For yoga and sound healing some mats will be provided but if you have your own and it is easy to bring, please do.

Sunday afternoon we have three more performances at the Piggery: Nathan Osgood (who'll be joined by Joff Watkins of Jimmy Regal and the Royals), Avigayil, a young singer songwriter we think you'll love and master of all sorts of East Coast Blues techniques and rhythms many you might never have heard of, Laine Hines.

Don't forget the food is DELICIOUS and largely made on site.

We have day tickets, weekend tickets and even a Saturday evening only ticket. If you are staying, don't forget you will need a camping ticket too.

Children under 16 come free (they still need a ticket) and good dogs are welcome (they don't need a ticket!). If you are bringing your dog, the house rule is that you bring a trowel to bury their poo in the hedgerow or take it away with you.

Remember, we are a small, friendly, chilled festival. Helping with the chilled atmosphere is the fact that there is very little phone signal on the farm. Make your important calls before you arrive and enjoy the digital switch-off! We will not be live-streaming!

We would like to add one or two more people to our team of volunteers helping out on the gates (one shift of four hours each day), welcoming and greeting people, in exchange for some exceptionally good farm food.

Finally we have a number of musicians and volunteers who are arriving into Bath on Friday afternoon (around 2.20pm), Saturday morning (9.20am), later on Saturday TBC (maybe midday), Sunday morning (around 10,30am and then also 11.50am). Do you think that you can help with any of those? Please get in touch if so.

Similarly, if you are going towards Bath and have room in your car for an extra passenger when you leave on Sunday, then please let us know as it will help us keep costs to a minimum, and by doing so we aim to keep tickets as low-cost as possible!

Radford Mill Jazz Festival 

Somerset organic Radford Mill Farm near Paulton, will host a new Jazz Festival in September 2026. The festival is being programmed in association with long-standing Bristol promoter Ian Storror of Jazzata.com, who is currently using The Lantern at Bristol Beacon as a venue.

Jazzata are relaunching the festival (which took a pause last year) and build it into a lasting annual event. This year the festival will run over the weekend of 11^th to 13^th September.

The inaugural programme will be varied and accessible, offering a broad mix of Jazz styles to suit different tastes. Opening Friday night will be leading saxophonist Alan Barnes, a performer of more than five decades and widely 

regarded as one of the UK’s finest reed players. He is also known for bringing a distinctive sense of humour to his performances.

Alan will be joined by the ‘All-Stars’ a Bristol-based group featuring some of the South West’s finest instrumentalists

Jonny Bruce – trumpet (Moscow Drug Club, Pee Wee Ellis, London Swing Orchestra), 

Jim Blomfield – piano & keys (Asere, Buena Bristol Social Club, Andy Sheppard)

Riaan Vosloo - bass (Gregory Porter,  Jamie Cullum & Nostalgia 77, Matthew Bourne)

Andy Hague -drums & trumpet (Portishead, Pee Wee Ellis, Mike Westbrook’s Uncommon Orchestra)

The quintet will open the festival with two Friday evening sets. Supper will be provided by the Radford Mill catering team, using organic produce from the farm.

Saturday is a full-day programme running from 12.30pm to 11pm.

Daytime acts will include; the Ben Kerrigan Trio, Woodwerk, and more.

Evening performances will feature, Silverado, a six-piece band playing the music of the legendary Blue Note pianist Horace Silver; followed by a Latin set from the Saoco Collective. Sunday will feature a Jazz brunch with The Mendip Swing Big Band performing two sets from 12.30 to 3.30pm.

Note also that there are two other festivals happening at Radford Mill. On 14th-16th August, Wildlings has a fabulous programme for families, definitely worth checking out. On 3rd October there is a free Harvest Festival. Find links to these on the farm What's On page.
